Monday Office Hours

We will be in the office Monday from 9-11. We want to be home to spend time with our children during the Eclipse.

Anything that comes in after 11 am (messages, calls, emails) we will not respond to until Tuesday.

Please keep in mind that we have children too. We have already began school for the year. We do not get paid. We are volunteers. We are working a quickly as possible to get things done.

If you have contacted us and have not had a reply, please know that we are working on it.

Wednesday October 11
9-12pm

Cost is $9 per student age 5+, $10 per adult.

We will meet at 9 am at the main entrance.
Program will begin with or without you. This trip will proceed rain or shine. Refunds are only given if the trip is cancelled.

Program will end at 12 pm.

We will eat a picnic lunch there.

There is no where within a 20 minute drive to get lunch. So I highly recommend packing a lunch or picking it up on your way in. However, you'll need to come in through Alabaster down 119 to get lunch right before you get there.

Field trip will officially end at lunch.

About this program:
Liberty! is the premiere educational program at the American Village. The program tells the story of how and why America is free. It is the best choice of programming for intermediate grades. It correlates to various states’ courses of study.

Students are fully engaged as they express their views/position as a patriot during the Stamp Act Rally, the Virginia Convention, and as delegates to the Constitutional Convention. They may even respond to the call of the Continental Army.

Students will connect to some of the greatest moments of American history and civics. It is a moving experience, appealing to a broad spectrum of students and encompassing multiple learning styles. This program is designed to evoke a sense of understanding, ownership and stewardship of the principles of liberty and self-government.

Rules:
Citizenship involves participation and so do the programs at the American Village! Students will be more willing to take part in simulations if they see adults enthusiastically involved.

Students will be involved in outdoor activities - rain or shine. Dress appropriately for the weather. Don't forget sunscreen on sunny days and ponchos are preferred over umbrellas on rainy days. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking for much of your visit.

Our costumed historical interpreters are talented and dedicated people who bring history to life by interacting with our visitors. Please respect the interpreters and the job they are performing by telling your students not to touch them or their props unless invited to do so. Many of our props are special reproductions of 18th century items.

It is important to help preserve the American Village by not chewing gum, smoking, or bringing food or drinks into the buildings and place all trash in appropriate receptacles.

Video or audio taping of the program is not permitted. Still photographs may be taken at any time. Please be courteous to other guests by turning off all cell phones. Electronic devices (radios, iPods, Blackberries, etc.) are not allowed.
